The American Legion 100 Miles For Hope Riders Challenge

The American Legion launched 100 Miles for Hope in August 2020 as a 100-day challenge for American Legion Family members and others to walk, run, cycle or cover 100 miles in any way they chose to encourage healthy activity and raise funds for the organization's Veterans & Children's Foundation (V&CF). Nearly 5,000 participants joined and raised about $150,000 for the foundation that benefits disabled veterans and military families. Due to the campaign's overwhelming success in its first year, The American Legion decided to expand it in 2021. This year, 100 Miles for Hope runs from April 1 to Sept. 6.
The 100 Miles for Hope Riders Challenge, a special event for American Legion Riders, kicked off in June. It will also run through Sept. 6.

Getting Started:
1) New registrations: Click JOIN, choose your Chapter as your Team, and pay your entry fee. (When you register, you will also want to place yourself in your chapter. If you don’t see it listed, reach out to friends@kilterrewards.com to create your chapter.)

1a) Already registered: If you have already signed up for 100 Miles for Hope, please reach out to friends@kilterrewards.com to receive the free code for the event.
2) Choose Sign In (top right) using the username and password you used for registration.
3) Go to the Events tab > My Events (you're already in!)
4) Complete your profile and connect your devices. Don’t forget to set a goal!
5)During the event, as you complete rides, upload the total time in minutes you were out on the road along with the date and a small description of your ride. Every minute riding = 1 point! All rides must be 30 min or more in order to be awarded points in this event. (This is for fun only. We are using the honor system for the totals for minutes.)
6) Help support The American Legion’s Veterans & Children Foundation with the individual donation function and the peer-to-peer feature. Choose GET DONATIONS in the event to ask your friends and family to support your personal wellness goal as well as The American Legion’s foundation that benefits veterans and military families with children.
HOW TO RAISE MONEY
The 100 Miles for Hope Riders Challenge raises critical funds to support The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation.Since its creation in 1925, The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (V&CF) has delivered over $30 million in financial assistance for disabled veterans and military families. The V&CF funds Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation programs such as training for accredited American Legion service officers who assist veterans, free of charge, with getting the VA benefits they earned through their service. The V&CF also helps fund Temporary Financial Assistance, another American Legion initiative, which provides grants to active duty or American Legion members with minor children at home.

How to submit donations from a fundraiser
If your Riders chapter hosts a fundraising event, you can submit those donations in one lump sum to the Veterans & Children Foundation through the Kilter app and get credit for the appropriate tier level.
In order for the donation to count for your chapter (team) on the Kilter page, a representative from the Riders chapter will need to deposit the total amount raised into the chapter's account and make a donation via the Kilter app. Simply use the DONATE button on the event homescreen with a credit or debit card.
How to Track Your Rides:
Manually Record Activities. Click the (+) icon from your dashboard to open the Manual Entry form. Choose “Ride”, enter the total time (in minutes) you were out on the road along with the date and a small description of your ride. Every minute riding = 1 point! All rides must be 30 min or more in order to be awarded points in this event. You must input your ride within 48 hours of completing the activity to earn points.
