Beyond Type Run Marathon Challenge

Start: Sept. 12th, 2021 | End: Nov. 21st, 2021‍

Beyond Type 1 is a nonprofit organization changing what it means to live with diabetes. Through platforms, programs, resources, and grants, Beyond Type 1 is uniting the global diabetes community and providing solutions to improve lives today. Founded in 2015 with a focus on education, advocacy and the path to a cure for Type 1 diabetes, Beyond Type 1 has grown to also include programs for those with Type 2 diabetes. A new model of philanthropy, Beyond Type 1 aims to change what it means to live with chronic illness.

As we gear up for the TCS New York City Marathon, we’re so excited to be joining our friends at Kilter to help accelerate the Beyond Type Run Team’s fundraising! We’re kicking off a health and wellness challenge that’ll run September 12th-November 21st benefitting Beyond Type 1 and its programs. All Beyond Type Run members will be listed as their own teams within the event. Find your runner and get registered to train and fundraise alongside them!

Family, friends, and anyone wanting to support a Beyond Type Run team member are welcome to not only support an individual’s campaign, but join in the fun, creating their own account, logging miles and raising funds. The Beyond Type Run Marathon Team is supported by Dexcom, Tandem, Asics, Rhone, Kilter, Diabetes Coaching Company, and Ultima Replenisher.

Kilter, the world’s most inclusive activity-based charitable impact app, allows you to track your training runs, stretching sessions and cross training activities while also accelerating fundraising through the easy to use text-to-donate, social media, and email donation functionality. The best part? All of it happens directly from your phone, so you can make those asks on the subway, from the couch, or waiting in line at the grocery store! Your fundraising goes where you go.

Every registration in this event adds to the runners fundraising minimum goal, so invite your friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, and whoever else to join your team and help in ticking up that fundraising thermometer and benefiting others with diabetes.

‍1) Register & Pay Here ‍
2) Download the FREE Kilter app‍
3) Choose Sign In (top right)
4) Go to the Events tab > My Events (you're already registered!)
5) Complete your profile and connect your devices
6) Share! Don’t forget to tell everyone you’ve ever met that you’re participating in this event by posting to social media and sending e-mail.

How to fundraise:

1. Click the FUNDRAISE button on the home screen of your event (above the leaderboard). Click the second option DONATE and choose any amount you want to contribute!

2. Use the peer-to-peer function and ask your friends or family to support your team and your own fitness goals by pledging to donate on your behalf! Click FUNDRAISE, then INVITE from the event in the app to get started!

‍How to Track Activities:

1) Connected Apps & Devices - visit your Profile and go to Connected Devices. Use Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Strava, or UnderArmour Record (MapMyRun) to seamlessly track your daily activities! This is the easiest way to keep track of your activities and earn points.

3) Manually Record Activities - Not living that gym life? No problem! Click the (+) icon from your dashboard to open the Manual Entry form. Enter your activity of 30+ minutes within 48 hours of completing your activity to earn points. See here for more info.‍‍

3) Check into Gyms & Fitness studios - click the (+) icon from your dashboard to open the gym check in function. When you're within a 400 ft radius of your gym, you'll be able to check in! Gym not there? Click the Add Gym button and send us your gym name and address. It will be added within 48 hours. *Note - Beyond Type 1 encourages safe fitness and activity. Daily Activities

Earn up to 300 points per day (3 activity maximum) for your score by completing any healthy activity. Activities may be tracked through connected devices (see Profile to connect to devices), gym checks ins, and manual entries.

Connected Devices

Connect to Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Strava, MapMyRun, or Google Fit. From your Profile, click Connected Devices. Connect to your desired tracker(s). Data should come into Kilter automatically.

Gym Check Ins

From the Dashboard, click on the (+) and select Gym Check In. When you are within a quarter mile radius, your gym will show up on the In Range tab. Click check in. If your gym is not available, click Add Gym to request.

Manual Entries

From the Dashboard, click on the (+) and select Manual Entry. Choose the tile for your activity. Manual entries must be added within 48 hours of activity and must be greater than 30 minutes in duration to award points. May not be combined with other daily activities.
